A safe haven to ponder truth.

Do you know why you believe what you believe?

We all need meaning and purpose, but most of us have a false sense of comfort in our beliefs.

Your approach to truth matters more than you think.

Many of us may wake up one day and wonder if we really believe what we thought. We may be led to ask: “What’s the point?”

Untested beliefs can make us comfortable in the short term but leave us extremely vulnerable in the long term. If our beliefs, and our confidence in those beliefs, are based on cultural, religious or societal traditions alone, we are like a tree with shallow roots that won’t withstand the storms of life.

The deeply personal search for meaning and purpose is the drive behind this site.

Jack’s Story

While I have always contemplated my beliefs, I mostly accepted the religion I was raised in. Things changed when one of my parents died when I was a young adult. It wasn’t their death that made me question but the lack of having them as a pillar of my foundation of faith that changed me. I realized how much I relied on their belief and how hollow mine was.

I went on a truth seeking journey, reading and trying to understand more than I ever had before. I allowed myself to have a more open mind and to consider things that would’ve caused me to become incredibly defensive even a few years earlier. The path I followed was characterized by patience, logic, and most of all, humility. The biggest discovery I made was realizing there are significant limits to what any of us can know.

This path has often been a lonely one because I did not feel safe sharing my thoughts with those close to me. I have been afraid that I would be rejected from my community of faith and I’ve also worried that some of my thoughts may cause the collapse of someone else’s faith who isn’t ready to walk this path yet.

The goal of Ponder Haven is to create a safe place to share deep thoughts, even really tough questions, about the biggest ideas around our purpose. Hopefully, the path I’ve walked can help you in yours.

Consider a different approach.

The Framework

While there is no formula for finding truth, I discovered some key ingredients that were critical to me. I propose the following framework for anyone truly searching for truth and meaning.

1.

Have an open mind.

Look at evidence objectively and rationally.

2.

Realize the limits of human knowledge.

3.

4.

Be humble.

A note from the creator of this site:

You’re probably not on this site by accident. Whether you’re searching for truth, or doubt it even exists, you’ve come to a safe haven for critical thought and pondering.

So much of the internet is full of polarized opinions wrapped in convincing packages designed to make you feel good. What if there was a place where you were free to think critically for yourself, even if it doesn’t fit with cultural norms? Even if it’s painful?

I created this site for people like you - people unafraid to search and also unafraid to admit they don’t have all the answers. People who believe the truth is worth seeking.
